Police seize pain-and-flu syrups, dagga edibles in targeted Cape Town raids
Operation Shanela II officers have arrested four suspects across two locales in Cape Town.
The arrests took place on Wednesday, December 10 2025, with police executing proactive operations based on intelligence and search warrants.
The first incident occurred in Dieman Road in Grassy Park, where officers executed a search warrant that led to notable findings.
“Police discovered 12 bottles of pain and flu syrups, prompting the arrest of a 26-year-old male suspect under the Medicines and Related Substances Act.
“The investigation also unveiled 34 dagga edibles in the possession of a 40-year-old male, who was subsequently charged with dealing in dagga. Both suspects are scheduled to appear in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court to face the charges against them,” police said.
Shortly after the Grassy Park operation, the team moved to the Ravensmead area. Here, they arrested a 22-year-old male suspected of dealing drugs. During an intelligence-driven operation on 5th Avenue, authorities seized a staggering 582 dagga cigarettes from the suspect’s residence.
This revelation shed light on the scale of drug operations in the area, prompting police to further investigate. This led them to another property on Hermas Road, where they arrested a 39-year-old male found with four full mandrax tablets.
Both individuals arrested in Ravensmead will now be proceeding to the Bellville Magistrate’s Court for their respective hearings.
