Four wanted criminals killed in dramatic police shootout in Inanda
Police in Amatikwe Area 2, Inanda, fatally shot four suspects wanted for murder and armed robbery during a shootout on Tuesday, 10 February 2026.
The suspects are believed to be connected to the murder of a security guard over the past weekend. The victim was stabbed and robbed while on his way to work.
Members of the SAPS Inanda Task Team, together with the Provincial Tracing Team, have recently conducted a series of operations in the Inanda area, which is known as a frequent hideout for criminals.
Police said they acted on information that led them to a two-room shack where the suspects were believed to be hiding. “When police arrived at the scene, a shootout ensued between the suspects and police which resulted in the four wanted suspects sustaining fatal gunshot wounds,” stated KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda.
Police recovered four pistols along with multiple rounds of ammunition following the deadly exchange in Amatikwe Area 2, Inanda. No officers were injured during the operation, authorities confirmed.
The incident comes just a week after a similar police operation in Adam’s Mission, where four suspects linked to a spate of armed robberies, house break-ins, carjackings, and kidnappings were also killed during a confrontation with law enforcement.
Statistics also show a pattern of increasingly deadly encounters in the region. A month ago, five suspects wanted in connection with violent crimes in the Bester area of Inanda were shot and killed after police returned fire during an operation.
