The Technology Innovation Agency and the South African Innovation Summit say it’s important for innovation to translate into jobs.

The entities are preparing to host SA Innovation Week between the 16th and 20th of next month.

The aim is to address the gap between innovation, funding and real economic impact.

The agency’s acting CEO, Patrick Krappie says, “The SA Innovation Week is a convening of the quadruple helix. So, it brings together industry, research community, civil society, and government to discuss these matters around how do we put together an ecosystem that functions efficiently for the development of SMMEs and start-ups, because this is where the potential really lies for our country to generate and create jobs. And it’s really around solving the challenges that start-ups and SMMEs are facing so that they can grow to become bigger companies.”
