Fuel shortages not limited to Gauteng: Association
The Fuel Industry Association says shortages at some filling stations in Gauteng are not limited to the province but are also being experienced in several parts of the country.
The Association has attributed this partly to panic and bulk buying before the April fuel increase.
Petrol increased by more than R3 per litre while diesel increased by up to R7.
The Association’s Executive Director Avhapfani Tshifularo says they are working to stabilise supply and ensure fuel deliveries reach affected areas quickly.
“What you are seeing in Gauteng is not a shortage of fuel products, it’s just a backlog coming out of the price increase. I mean there was a lot of people who rushed to various stations to try and beat the price increase. We are catching up across the country and we should clear up this backlog by early next week,” says Tshifularo.
