Metro FM Awards honour maskandi icon Ihashi Elimhlophe

Legendary Maskandi artist Bheki “Ihashi Elimhlophe” Ngcobo has been honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Metro FM Music Awards at the Durban ICC.
The theme of this year’s awards which took place on Saturday night was: “Icon-Inspired Music Excellence,” celebrating South African music icons and the fusion of heritage with contemporary artistry.
The highlights included radio broadcaster Wilson B Nkosi receiving the prestigious Long Service Award.
Thukuthela and Jazzworld also emerged as major winners. The duo took home Best Produced Album, Best Dance and Best Duo or Group.
Nkosi has thanked his supporters.
“Everyday, with my hand on my heart, I thank all the forces that have supported my hustle. When I say everyday, I mean everyday. This is not fake humble. There’s always a temptation to glorify the lone hero. But at any given time, just remember that someone gave you a chance. Even if you have some bit of talent, the fact of the matter is, someone gave you a chance for the talent to blossom.”
