The Gautrain Management Agency (GMA) says its yet to be launched e-hailing service is set to transform commuter travel to and from its stations.

The Gautrain e-hailing app is expected to solve the biggest last and first mile challenges currently faced by its riders and solve the problem of getting to a Gautrain station where no Gautrain busses are available, and riders’ final destinations.

The service will be similar to that of Uber and Bolt and is expected to be launched in October this year.

Agency spokesperson, Albi Modise says the app will be integrated into the broader Gauteng public transport ecosystems,

“The Gautrain Express Service will address these first and last mile gaps and ensure that it provides seamless travel to and from the Gautrain stations. The Gautrain Management Agency will continue to engage with the shareholder and key stakeholders to ensure that the serive is well integrated and contributes to the broader public transport system in Gauteng.”

 

Speaking to SABC News, Gautrain Manangement Agency CEO, Tshepo Kgope said commuters will find value in the service due to improved safety and the inter-connectedness of various Gautrain services
