De Lille announces R3.5 billion tourism investment pipeline
The 2026 South Africa Tourism Infrastructure Investment Summit has put a massive financial spotlight on the sector.
Tourism Minister Patricia de Lille announced an ambitious investment pipeline featuring 15 public-private sector projects valued at R3.5 billion.
De Lille says of these, three projects have already secured funding commitments. She hosted stakeholders and investors in Johannesburg for the annual summit under the theme: “Invest in Tourism Infrastructure. Invest in Growth”.
“We started with eight bankable projects valued at R1 billion and the pipeline has now grown to 15 projects valued at R3.5 billion, three projects already secured funding commitments. These projects are from both the public and private sectors, spanning accommodation, tourist attractions, heritage spaces, entertainment facilities and infrastructure.”
The second edition of the South African Tourism Infrastructure Investment Summit is underway in Gauteng.
