The Standing Committee on Appropriations has adopted the Second Special Appropriations Bill, which aims to bring relief and stability for fuel prices.

The Bill will allow National Treasury to withdraw R10 billion from the National Revenue Fund to appropriate to the Minerals and Petroleum Resources Department.

This is done in order to stabilize fuel costs and protect consumers from fuel price volatility arising from the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

In a statement, committee Chairperson Mmusi Maimane says consumers should receive immediate relief.

The Bill will be tabled in the National Assembly soon for consideration.
