ANC, SACP to hold bilateral meeting today – SABC News

The ANC says it will hold its much anticipated bilateral meeting with the SACP at Luthuli House in Johannesburg later this morning. The two alliance partners are seeking to find each other, following the SACP’s conference resolution to go it alone in future elections.

The communist party said its decision was necessitated by the ANC’s refusal to reconfigure the alliance. Although their historical ties span decades, differences between the ANC and the SACP are setting them apart.

These range from a failed reconfigured alliance to the GNU and the recent VAT increase.

ANC Secretary General Fikile Mbalula says he’s hopeful about today’s meeting.
