SASSA recipients urged to avoid using old cards – SABC News
SASSA grant recipients who have not yet migrated to the new black PostBank card are advised not to use their old gold SASSA cards at retailers or ATMs following the migration deadline.
Recipients had until Thursday to switch to the new card after an extension from the initial deadline at the end of February.
PostBank Chief Commercial Executive Thami Cele assured beneficiaries that they would still have access to their funds.
“If you happen to not have a chance to get your PostBank black card, don’t panic. You will still have access to your funds using the post office, and all we will need from you is your ID,” says Cele.
He urged recipients not to use their old cards at ATMs or retailers.
“Don’t got to the ATM, don’t use any of the retailers if you have not collected your PostBank black card, don’t utilize your old card because it certainly may be swallowed by the ATM or it will reject to give you any funds or even the retailer,” he says.
Cele advised those without a new card after April 3, 2025 to visit a Post Office rather than attempting to use their old card.
