KZN disaster management on high alert amid heavy rains warning – SABC News
Disaster management teams in KwaZulu-Natal are on high alert after the South African Weather Service (SAWS) issued a warning for disruptive rains.
The areas affected include eThekwini, iLembe, uMgungundlovu, Ugu, and Harry Gwala.

Provincial Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs Department’s Spokesperson Senzelwe Mzila says, “The MEC for CoGTA (Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs) Rev. Thulasizwe Buthelezi has assured residents that disaster management teams will continue to be on alert and monitor the weather conditions.”
“The ongoing weather conditions continue to pose a risk for the following impact: further flooding of roads and settlements, increased risk of damage to bridges, continued displacement of communities.”
Mzila adds: “Disaster management teams continue to be on alert and are monitoring areas that are prone to weather-related incidents. The MEC for CoGTA urges residents to continue to be vigilant.”
