The Gauteng Department of Education has confirmed the untimely passing of two male teachers from Ennerdale Secondary School in the south of Johannesburg.

The teachers were reported missing over the weekend and it has now been confirmed that they tragically lost their lives in a car crash in Jachtfontein on Saturday.

Gauteng Education spokesperson Steve Mabona says psychosocial support will be provided to the staff, learners and the families of the deceased.

“According to information at our disposal, the motor vehicle accident occurred on Saturday morning in around Lenasia. We understand that the two educators were certified dead on the scene. The circumstances surrounding this case are now being investigated by the police. The MEC did extend the heartfelt condolences to the families and the entire school community. As the department we will provide psycho support to the school and extend to both families.”
