Kubayi warns DOJ officials regarding misconduct – SABC News

The Justice and Constitutional Development Minister, Mmamoloko Kubayi, has warned officials in the Department of Justice (DOJ) that she will not tolerate misconduct of any kind in her department.

This follows the dismissal of 54 department officials for various offences, including fraud and corruption.

Kubayi has welcomed the dismissals. She says the dismissals reflect the Department’s commitment to clean governance.

She says, “We are making sure that we protect South Africans from those who are continuing to do wrong. Where you have theft, corruption and fraud, it’s zero tolerance; it will be dismissal.”

Kubayi says, “I mean, a person goes to court to ask for maintenance for their children who might be ill, who might be going to school and all that and then an official of the department goes and puts a different account where the money is redirected, that is unforgivable, and that’s why we’ve taken the stance that we will continue to dismiss them.”
