Preliminary stats show possible decrease in Gauteng fatal crashes – SABC News
Gauteng traffic police say preliminary statistics show that there might be a decrease in fatal crashes during the Easter weekend.
Nineteen deaths have been recorded on Gauteng roads.
The possible reduction is attributed to the implementation of various effective road safety measures.
Gauteng Traffic Police Spokesperson, Obed Sibasa, has urged road users to always respect regulations.
“Note we might have dropped however, one death is one too many. Gauteng Traffic Police and road safety promotions urges road users to respect road regulations by complying (to road rules) – and that will curb road accidents and aid authorities in realising the objective of reducing crashes and fatalities.”
Eastern Cape
In the Eastern Cape, over 15 people have died on the province’s roads during the Easter period.
