Trump, Guterres to attend Pope Francis’ funeral – SABC News
United Nations (UN) Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres and United States (US) President Donald Trump will join world leaders and thousands of mourners who will attend the funeral of Pope Francis at St Peter’s Square in Vatican City on Saturday.
The Pope died at the age of 88 on Monday from a stroke and cardiac arrest.
Trump took to social media to confirm his and first lady Melania Trump’s attendance at the funeral of the late Pontiff, writing that they looked forward to being there.
He earlier ordered flags at US government buildings and military posts around the world to be flown at half-staff until sunset on the day of the late Pope’s burial.
In addition to Guterres, the British Prime Minister and the Presidents of Ukraine, France, Argentina, Brazil and the European Union(EU) Commission have all indicated that they will be in attendance.
