SIU blames past governance failures for SABC’s financial crisis – SABC News
Several cases of poor governance at the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) between 2011 and 2019 have played a major role in its ongoing financial woes. That’s according to the Special Investigating Unit (SIU), which briefed Parliament’s Standing Committee on Public Accounts.
Several cases have been referred to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) for criminal prosecution.
The SIU is trying to claw back money the SABC lost due to fraud, theft, and the contravention of the Companies Act.
SIU Chief National Investigations Officer, Zodwa Xesibe, says they have handed over 29 cases to the NPA.
