Blitzboks get triple boost

The Blitzboks welcome back three players ahead of the SVNS World Championship in Los Angeles.

Coach Philip Snyman told Netwerk24 that Ronald Brown, Quewin Nortje and Mfundo Ndhlovu are back in full training and will be considered for the eight-team season-ending tournament on 3-4 May.

Brown was injured in the Vancouver tournament in February, while Nortje missed the previous tournament in Singapore.

The trio could replace Dewald Human, Donovan Don and Sebastiaan Jobb in the squad.

The Blitzboks, who finished fourth on the standings after the six-tournament regular season, are in Group A with Argentina, France and Great Britain, with the top two teams progressing to the semi-finals.

“We are going to have to approach the tournament with the right mindset, everyone has to know exactly what is expected of them and then we have to be at our best during the tournament,” Snyman told Netwerk24.

“We are hard on ourselves, we know it is going to require a lot of us to be successful in LA.”

The Blitzboks have reached the USA Sevens cup final six times and won it on five occasions, most recently in 2020.
