The Vatican says around 250 000 people have paid respects to Pope Francis lying in state in St. Peter’s over the past three days.
Catholic faithful walked past the coffin of Pope Francis inside Saint Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican City.
Mourners have been waiting for hours to say their final goodbyes and view the Pope’s body for the last time.
Public viewing ended at 7 PM. From there, the casket was closed and sealed.
Friday marks the final day of public viewing.
On Saturday, the proceedings will begin with solemn ceremonies honouring the Pope.
Catholics around the world have been participating in daily readings in preparation for the Pope’s burial.
