Over 2 000 NPO applications arbitrated: Gauteng Social Dev MEC – SABC News
Gauteng Social Development MEC Faith Mazibuko says her department has arbitrated over about 2 000 funding applications from Non-Profit Organisations (NPOs).
She says they have so far issued 900 letters of award to successful applicants. Mazibuko says organisations whose applications have been rejected have seven days in which to appeal.
However, a number of NPOs are concerned about the provincial department’s delay in approving their applications for funding.

Mazibuko has told the provincial legislature that her department is turning the corner.
“Furthermore, we have signed service-level agreements with some of those successful NPOs and have started making payments. By Friday Madam Speaker we had already paid 300 of those NPOs. Their monies are in their accounts. And although we experienced a bit of glitches in the system, some of them did receive their money from Friday. Others received their money yesterday. Others are receiving their money today. Others are receiving their money tomorrow.”
