Lead investigator grilled over arrest of Meyiwa murder accused 1 – SABC News

The former Bafana Bafana captain and lead investigator of the Senzo Meyiwa murder case, Brigadier Bongani Gininda, has been asked to state the facts that led to the arrest of the first accused, Muzi Sibiya.
He is being cross-examined by defense counsel Adv. Charles Mnisi, at the High Court in Pretoria.
Five men are on trial for Meyiwa’s murder in 2024.
Mnisi has asked Gininda to state what he presented to the national prosecutors. While the state sees no relevance to the question, he read the affidavit in court.
Gininda says, “The evidence explained hereunder will indicate that the planning of the offense and gathering after the incident took place at Phosphorus Hostel investigations, which resulted in evidence under oath revealed that the victim was murdered as a contractual assassination of heat rather than the robbery or robbery gone wrong.”
“Evidence under oath revealed that five suspects actively participated in the planning and execution of the contractual murder of Senzo Meyiwa,” he adds.
