Meyiwa trial adjourned to allow state to obtain car-tracking data – SABC News
The former Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa’s murder trial has been postponed until Monday, to allow the state to obtain all vehicle tracking data used by police officers when some of the accused were arrested.
Five men are on trial at the High Court in Pretoria for Meyiwa’s 2014 murder.
The requested vehicle tracking data pertains to vehicles involved when accused numbers one and two were arrested.
Both the accused claim they were taken to different locations and assaulted following their arrests.
State Prosecutor Adv. George Baloyi says they are still in the process of gathering that information.
Baloyi says, “The purpose of today’s sitting was to assess more or less what time it’s needed to, to gather that information. In our estimation, subject to what Brigadier Bongani Gininda says, we think that if maybe we adjourn the matter to Monday, that should afford enough time to gather the requested information.”
