CRL Commission to lay charges against Faith and Freedom for SA leader – SABC News

The CRL Rights Commission says it is going to open a criminal case against the leader of the religious group, Faith and Freedom for South Africa – Michael Swain.

Commission Chairperson, Thoko Mkhwanazi-Xaluva says Swain has insulted the Chapter 9 institution and South Africans by statements he allegedly made on social media.

The commission says Swain made defamatory statements against it online — including accusations that it sought to regulate religion.

The CRL alleges that Swain has accused its chairperson of financially benefitting from the Cheryl Zondi Foundation’s R1.5 million in funding from the National Lottery Commission.

Mkhwanazi-Xaluva says she wants Swain to have his day in court.

“I will make sure that the system does what the system has to do. The system failed us in the Omotoso case, they are not going to fail us now. We want him to be in court and explain all these things that he controls the President, he determines who gets appointed where. 21 million people backing him up. He knows that I got a conflict of interest that I do not know of,” explains Mkhwanazi-Xaluva.
