Manamela asked to reconsider appointments of some SETA administrators – SABC News

The DA has called on the Higher Education Minister, Buti Manamela, to reconsider the appointments of three SETA administrators, citing their alleged involvement in corruption.

Oupa Nkoane, Lehlohonolo Masoga and Zukile Mvalo have been appointed as administrators for the Construction, Services and Local Government SETAs, respectively.

Their appointments are aimed at addressing governance failures within these entities, including procurement irregularities, lapses in oversight and board instability.

The party argues that the Minister cannot appoint individuals implicated in corruption, mismanagement and fraud to deal with governance failures.

DA Spokesperson Karabo Khakhau, says, “There’s no way that with so many public servants in this country, some of whom have worked in departments or government entities that have deemed themselves successful in the Western Cape, in Gauteng in the mid-Vaal, that there is nobody that Manamela can find that is not implicated in maladministration, the mismanagement of funds in corruption and fraud. He must withdraw, find credible people so that we are able to foster public trust. So, we are able to, in the spirit of good clean accountability, be able to deliver the mandate of SETAs.”
