Tourism Council questions dissolution of SAT Board – SABC News

The Tourism Business Council says its findings show no justification for the dissolution of the South African Tourism Board. This follows Tourism Minister Patricia De Lille’s announcement to dissolve the Board.

The Minister argues that the board acted unlawfully when it failed to address the legality of the process it used to convene a special meeting earlier this month, where it decided to place CEO Nombulelo Guliwe on precautionary suspension.

De Lille asserts that the decision was unlawful.

Tourism Business Council CEO Tshifhiwa Tshivhengwa says, “What we do know is that whatever dispute there is between the Board and the Minister does not warrant the dissolution of the Board, from what we have been told. It warrants the meeting to find each other and to make sure that there is continuity.

“There is nothing that we heard that is so alarming that it can convince us to say yes indeed, the dissolution of the Board was the right thing to do,” Tshivhengwa stresses.
