Uyinene Mrwetyana Foundation remembers her through peace walk – SABC News

A commemorative peace walk in honour of murdered UCT student Uyinene Mrwetyana is set to take place in Cape Town this morning.

The walk has been organised by the Uyinene Mrwetyana Foundation, in partnership with the University of Cape Town and Langa For Men, in an effort to fight the scourge of Gender-Based Violence and Femicide. Participants will gather in Darling Street and march to Parliament.

Mrwetyana was raped and murdered by an employee inside the Claremont Post Office in 2019.

Her charred body was found in a shallow grave in Khayelitsha on the Cape Flats, a week after she had gone missing. Her killer, Luyanda Botha, is currently serving three life sentences.
