The Minister is delivering her speech at the G20 National Education Basic Indaba which is under way in Cape Town.
It’s being held under the theme ,”Taking the G20 to the People – A National Indaba for Advancing Quality Foundational Learning.”
She says her department is working on addressing the financial challenges faced by provinces.

“Today we will hear from leaders and partners who are already showing us what is possible when policy, financing and community action come together. How do make sure that the majority of South African learners who fall within the second category are in fact given a fair chance to be able to, not only get through school, to read, for meaning to calculate confidently, but also to take on difficult subjects like maths, science and accounting, because they’ve been given the strong foundations right at the beginning.”
