Double murder investigation launched after two bodies found in Gqeberha bushes
Two bullet-riddled bodies were discovered dumped in bushes in Gqeberha on Monday.
Police spokesperson Captain Andre Beetge said the grim discovery was made near the Coega Hotel at about 9.35am.
He said both victims — aged 20 and 30 — were shot in the head, and it is suspected their hands had been tied behind their backs before they were killed.
“The motive and identities of the suspects are still unknown, and no arrests have been made,” Beetge said.
Beetge said a double murder docket was under investigation.
He said more details were not immediately known.
In another incident, three people were killed in separate shootings across Nelson Mandela Bay at the weekend, IOL reported on Monday.
The first victim was found on Saturday at 11am, riddled with bullets at a bus stop in Ezinyoka township.
Police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg said: “On [police’s] arrival, they found the body of [an] unknown man with multiple gunshot wounds.”
He was wearing a navy Adidas top, cargo pants, and gold chains.
On Sunday around 11.50am, a man died at Livingstone Hospital after being shot at a nightclub in Central.
“According to information gathered at the hospital, the deceased arrived at Livingstone hospital after complaining about stomach pain,” she said.
“He passed away at the hospital due to a gunshot wound.
“Preliminary investigation stated that the deceased was at a nightclub in Central and a firearm was discharged inside the venue, resulting in the wounding of the deceased.
“The investigation is ongoing.”
Later that night, another man was found with a gunshot wound to the head outside a home in Madikane Street, Kwazakele.
She said three murder cases have been opened.
