All Blacks lose captain for Eden Park clash

The All Blacks have recalled several big names but will be without captain Scott Barrett when they face the Wallabies at Eden Park on Saturday.

Barrett has been ruled out with a shoulder injury, with Ardie Savea taking over the captaincy for the crucial Rugby Championship and Bledisloe Cup clash.

Codie Taylor, Cam Roigard, Caleb Clarke, Patrick Tuipulotu and Cortez Ratima are all back in the match 23, while loose forward Peter Lakai is set for his first Test minutes of 2025 after debuting last year.

Roigard starts at scrumhalf alongside Beauden Barrett, feeding a midfield of Jordie Barrett and Billy Proctor. Clarke returns on the left wing, with Leroy Carter on the right and Will Jordan at fullback.

In the pack, Taylor anchors the front row with Ethan de Groot and Tyrel Lomax, while Fabian Holland and Tupou Vaa’i form the lock pairing. Savea joins Simon Parker and Wallace Sititi in the loose trio.

“All teams are two from four in this Rugby Championship, so we all have everything to play for in these final two rounds,” coach Scott Robertson said.

“We are preparing for a strong Australian side and understand the importance of this match and the Bledisloe Cup. There is a lot to play for on Saturday evening.”
