Five people have been killed and six injured in a head-on collision along the R518 road in Lephalale, Limpopo.

According to traffic authorities, a sedan overtook and collided with an oncoming vehicle.

Transport department spokesperson Tshifhiwa Dali has cited reckless driving as a possible cause of the crash.

“Both drivers of the two vehicles lost their lives on the scene, together with three female passengers. The six who were injured were ferried to the nearby hospital. Law enforcement officers have not ruled out the possibility of reckless driving while awaiting formal investigations.”
