You don’t want Sacha on the team sheet

Argentina head coach Felipe Contepomi has hailed Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu as one of the game’s most exciting young talents, admitting that opposition coaches would rather not see the Springbok starlet’s name listed on the team sheet.

RASSIE: Sacha did incredible things

Feinberg-Mngomezulu produced one of the best individual performances in a Springbok jersey ever in the Boks’ 67-30 demolition of Los Pumas on Saturday – with his 37 points breaking the long-standing record of the most individual points scored in a Test by a Springbok.

“I don’t know much about the statistics, but it’s very obvious that he’s a brilliant player,” Contepomi said.

“When you’re the coach of the opposition team, you don’t want Sacha to play. But from the rugby fans’ perspective, he’s one of those guys who adds some flair and glamour to the game.”

Both teams now head to London ahead of Saturday’s rematch at Twickenham – which Argentina had nominated as their “home” venue. Contepomi has backed Los Pumas to respond strongly after their setback at Kings Park.

“I’d like to think that we can fight harder,” he said.

“I regard the players’ spirit and hard work highly and they work really hard in the week. We obviously couldn’t show that on the field, but I remain proud of the players for the hard work they put in week after week.

“The nice thing about sport is that you get another chance. Ours is in less than a week, and we’ll be well prepared for it.”
