Former SA Police Minister Nathi Mthethwa reported missing in Paris
French authorities are actively searching for former Minister of Police Nkosinathi Mthethwa, who supposedly disappeared on Monday afternoon in Paris.
According to French publication Le Parisien, police last tracked the 58-year-old diplomat’s mobile phone around 3 pm near the Bois de Boulogne in the city’s 16th arrondissement.
An investigation has been opened and is being handled by the Brigade for the Repression of Crime against Persons (BRDP) of the Paris judicial police.
Police fear a possible suicide and have deployed search teams, including dog units, to patrol the wooded area in western Paris.
Attempts to reach the South African embassy in Paris reportedly failed on Tuesday morning, according to local reports.
The circumstances surrounding Mthethwa’s disappearance remain unclear, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
The search continues as police intensify efforts to locate the missing diplomat.
