Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi to appear before Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee – SABC News
The Madlanga Commission of Inquiry is set to resume its public hearings in Pretoria on Monday next week. The commission took a break last week after crime intelligence head Dumisani Khumalo fell ill shortly after testifying.
Meanwhile, KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi will tomorrow appear before Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee set up to investigate allegations of threats to national security.
Mkhwanazi made the allegations, which include corruption, political interference and criminal infiltration of the justice system.
Parliament has appointed Advocate Norman Arendse as its evidence leader. He says Mkhwanazi will be the first senior police official to appear before the committee.
“The statement is not the same as before the Madlanga Commission; it is a reference annexure to his statement, so to that extent incorporated. We have tried to avoid competition. There are a number of material differences, new matter, not evidence yet, that is referred to in the statements,” says Arendse.
