ANC outlines plan to tackle poverty, unemployment – SABC News
The African National Congress (ANC) has identified a 10-point plan to increase growth, create jobs and end poverty.
This came out at the end of its three-day Special National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Boksburg, east of Johannesburg, earlier Monday.
Despite remaining far below the level needed to reduce high levels of poverty and inequality, the country’s growth rate improved in the second quarter of 2025, reaching its fastest in two years.
But, ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa says there is a lot that still needs to be done.
He unveiled his party’s intervention to reignite growth in the economy.
Meanwhile, Ramaphosa says the ANC has vowed to rebuild and restore the country’s state-owned enterprises (SOEs) to their glory days of developmental instruments.
“We need to reform and rebuild SOEs to be effective developmental instruments. We are already seeing quite a lot of progress in a number of SOEs as they are regaining their own capability and also attracting experienced and qualified people to come and work for them. The efficient and well governed SOEs are vital to economic growth and also vital to our national competitiveness,” adds Ramaphosa.
