Hundreds of community members from several villages in Botlokwa are gathered at Morebeng Magistrate’s court in Limpopo, where a 66-year-old man is appearing for allegedly raping a three-year-old girl.

The incident took place at Springs village in Botlokwa. The accused, who is the husband of the crèche owner, is also the driver of the vehicle that transports children to the crèche.

On the day of the rape, the child was brought home late, and she complained of experiencing pain.

Police say the child was taken to hospital where it was confirmed that she had been raped.

Community members are calling for the suspect to be denied bail.
