Accused in Phala Phala theft allegedly paid R250k for dental jewellery – SABC News
The Modimolle Regional Court in Limpopo has heard accused number one in the Phala Phala farm theft case, Immanuela David, paid about R250 000 to fit dental jewellery, also referred to as grillz.
This was said by another state witness who is a dentist.
David and his co-accused Floriana and Ndilinasho Joseph face three charges each relating to the break in and theft of more than 580 000 US dollars from President Cyril Ramaphosa’s Phala Phala farm in 2020.
David also faces an additional charge of money laundering.
The witness told court that David got hold of his services on social media and later visited the practice.
The dentist also told the court that after the dental purchase, he posted the accused on his social media with his consent.
“In my company, when people want specific jewelry, they reach out. In this case as the jewelry company is posted on Instagram, I’ll give them a quotation, then they come to me. In this instance, David said he wants to buy something called grillz – it is dental jewellery. He spoke back and forth about which design he wants, and I gave him a quote and he made his deposit and he came through to my clinic for his first consultation.”
Last month, all three accused pleaded not guilty to charges laid against them.
