A five-month-old child has been beaten to death, allegedly by his biological father, at Jimmy Jones village near Malamulele in Limpopo.

Police say the body of the infant was found with wounds on the head and face.

An 18-year-old suspect has been arrested.

SAPS says the baby’s body was found inside the house by the child’s mother and police after the woman had gone to the police station to open a domestic violence case against her partner.

Police spokesperson Malesela Ledwaba says the suspect is expected to appear in court on Thursday.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the baby had sustained visible injuries to the head and face, suggesting that he was severely assaulted before succumbing to his injuries. Lieutenant-General Hadebe condemned the horrific incident, describing it as a heartbreaking act of violence that no child should ever endure.”
