Mchunu’s chief of staff questions motive of raid at his home – SABC News

The Chief of Staff to suspended Police Minister Senzo Mchunu has questioned the timing and motive of a police raid of his home in Midrand, Gauteng.
Cedric Nkabinde says around 20 officers wearing balaclavas stormed his home to look for electronic devices, including laptops, on Wednesday.
He is scheduled to appear before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry and Parliament’s ad hoc committee investigating allegations of political interference, corruption and criminal infiltrations of the justice system.
Addressing the media in Sandton, Johannesburg, Nkabinde questioned why police should confiscate his electronic devices containing essential evidence.
“The timing is questionable. They want to remove the evidence from our gadgets because we’ve got very, very valuable evidence that we want to present in the commission and ad hoc committee. Now General Masemola and General Mkhwanazi, they are busy there at the ad hoc committee. At the same, time they are sending police to come and harass us so that they can remove our gadgets with our evidence while we are also preparing to appear in that commission.”
