SAHRC loses court bid to Operation Dudula on healthcare access – SABC News

Lobby group Operation Dudula has welcomed the judgment of the High Court in Durban against the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC).

On Friday, the court dismissed with costs the commission’s urgent interdict against the barring of foreign nationals from accessing services from state hospitals and clinics.

Judge David Sachs said the commission’s application was an abuse of court processes.

Operation Dudula leader Zandile Dabula has condemned the actions of the SAHRC and says the lobby group should be protecting South Africans.

“Whose side are they on? Taking us to court shows that they are siding with foreign nationals. They were supposed to call both parties and try to mediate, not this thing of taking sides. There is absolutely nothing wrong we are doing here. We have done nothing wrong here; we are just making sure that the law is enforced.”
