Saracens speed merchant gets England call-up

Saracens’ teenage sensation has been called up to train with the England squad ahead of the November internationals.

Steve Borthwick has named a 36-man squad that’ll go into a three-day camp and has invited Noah Caluori to train with the squad “as part of a development agreement with Saracens.”

The tall, 19-year-old winger earned the call after a stunning five-try performance on his first Premiership start against the Sale Sharks.

The headline omission is Tom Willis, who will join Bordeaux from Saracens at the end of the season. His move to France makes him ineligible for England selection under current RFU rules.

Borthwick could have technically included him for now but chose not to, with Leicester Tigers back-rower Emeka Ilione earning a call-up instead.

Among the backs, Henry Arundell, Immanuel Feyi-Waboso, Max Ojomoh, Raffi Quirke and Adam Radwan return after missing last month’s training group for various reasons.

Captain Maro Itoje is back from injury, joined by Theo Dan and Lions prop Will Stuart, while Owen Farrell has again been left out despite rejoining Saracens from Racing 92 over the English summer.

The omission hints that Borthwick may be looking beyond the 112-cap veteran, even after Farrell’s solid showing for the British & Irish Lions in Australia earlier this year.

Tom Curry, Elliot Daly and Jack van Poortvliet remain in rehabilitation, while several other regulars – including Alex Dombrandt, Ted Hill, Curtis Langdon, George Martin and Harry Randall – were not considered for selection.
