Police at Matlala, in Limpopo, have appealed to the public for assistance in identifying a woman whose burned body was discovered in Ga-Magwai village, last week.
According to the South African Police Service (SAPS), officers from Matlala Police Station were called to a ploughing field on Wednesday evening, 15 October 2025, where they found the body of an unknown female victim with severe burn wounds on her legs, arms, and face.

“When police arrived at the scene, they found the body of a woman who had been burned beyond recognition on parts of her body,” said Ledwaba. “The motive behind the incident is not yet known, and we are appealing to anyone who might have information to come forward.”
Police said the woman is believed to be between the ages of 25 and 40. She had short hair and was wearing a red tight, a white short-sleeved shirt, and a black pullover. She was not wearing shoes.
“At this stage, the identity of the deceased remains unknown,” Ledwaba added.
