Madlanga Commission hears how Municipal Manager protected Mkhwanazi
The Madlanga Commission will continue at the Brigitte Mabandla Justice College in Pretoria on Thursday morning.
Former Ekurhuleni Municipality employee relations head Xolani Nciza, who has been testifying over two days, will continue his testimony.
Nciza has testified about the relationship between then-Municipal Manager Imogen Mashazi and suspended deputy Police Chief Brigadier Julius Mkhwanazi.
His testimony has corroborated that of other witnesses who have accused Mashazi of shielding Mkhwanazi from wrongdoing.
“There is something that is beyond organisational arrangements that, in my view, exists between Mashazi and Mkhwanazi. That then informed the proximity claim that would then inform the conduct of the Municipal Manager in respect of this individual, protecting him from this individual. Not only protecting the individual, but advancing the individual. And so many things. It is just unheard of in the municipal environment.”
