Westbury mass shooting case postponed to next week

The case against five people arrested in connection with the Westbury mass shooting incident, has been postponed to Wednesday next week.

The incident claimed the lives of two teenagers last month. The five appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court facing charges of murder and attempted murder.

They were arrested separately, a few days after they allegedly opened fire on a group of teenagers outside a house in Westbury, Johannesburg.

The state is expected to add charges of possession of illegal arms and ammunition.

The case has been postponed allowing the state time to conduct an identity parade.

One of the accused, a 17-year-old, will however appear in court alone on Friday for the state to add him to the identity parade, where he will join rest of the accused.

He is currently being kept in a place of safety under the supervision of his mother.

The accused are expected to apply for bail when they appear next week.
