Patients welcome 6 MMD health strategy
Patients who suffer from chronic diseases have welcomed the launch of the Six Multi-Month Dispensation (6 MMD) health strategy by the Department of Health in Bloemfontein, in the Free State.
They say the new programme saves them time and money as they only have to collect their medication twice a year.
This programme will allow stable patients suffering from chronic illnesses to receive several months’ supply of medication in a single visit instead of monthly refills.
The department launched the six Multi-Month Dispensation (6 MMD) health strategy at the Mangaung University Community Partnership Programme in Bloemfontein.
One patient, who has been on HIV treatment for more than 15 years, says the 6 MMD will also shield them from being stigmatised when they visit health care facilities.
