Mashatile to answer oral questions before NCOP
Deputy President Paul Mashatile is appearing before the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) on Tuesday afternoon to answer oral questions from Members of Parliament (MPS).
Water provision will be one of the key questions Mashatile is expected to engage MPs on.
MPs will question Mashatile about whether government is considering public-private partnerships and investment to address persistent water and sanitation challenges that are worsened by ageing infrastructure, climate change and limited municipal capacity, as well as the issue of the so-called water tankers mafia that is exacerbating service delivery challenges.
As the Chairperson of the Cabinet Committee on crime-prevention and security, Mashatile will also be asked about measures to address systemic issues in the policing and justice system that hinder the arrest, prosecution and conviction of gang violence perpetrators and gang leaders.
