Eastern Cape bus crash leaves one killed, 32 injured


One person has been killed and 32 others injured in a collision between two vehicles on the N6 road between Komani and Jamestown in the Eastern Cape.

A bus is one of the vehicles involved in the crash which happened on Wednesday morning.

The provincial Transport Department says the driver of the other vehicle is one of the deceased.

“We wish to extend our sincerest condolences to the family of the deceased and we are mindful of the fact that things could have been a lot worse, given the fact that there were more than 30 people that were involved in this crash. The MEC for Transport in the Eastern Cape, Mr Xolile Nqatha, is calling on road users, motorists in particular, to be extra vigilant, extra cautious and help us avoid avoidable crashes like head-on collisions,” says the department’s spokesperson, Unathi Binqose.
