MKP back at the High Court to challenge Ramaphosa’s decision-making

The Umkhonto weSizwe Party and former President Jacob Zuma are expected to be back in the Pretoria High Court this Thursday morning, where they will challenge President Cyril Ramaphosa’s decision to place Police Minister Senzo Mchunu on a leave of absence.

The party is also challenging President Ramaphosa’s decision to appoint Firoz Cachalia as Police Minister, and the subsequent establishment of the Madlanga Commission

This is the third time that Zuma and the MKP have attempted to challenge Ramaphosa’s decisions.

The first attempt was in the Constitutional Court, where it ruled that the application was not within its jurisdiction.

The Gauteng High Court also struck the matter off the roll, citing a lack of urgency. The MKP says that while both courts have refused to hear the merits of the case, the case will not go away.
