State to challenge Gwabini’s testimony as Meyiwa trial resumes
The state is expected to poke holes in Sifiso “Gwabini” Zungu’s testimony when the Senzo Meyiwa trial resumes on Thursday morning.
Gwabini has been called to testify by the defence at the High Court in Pretoria, where five men are on trial for the 2014 murder of the Bafana Bafana captain.
Meyiwa was shot and killed while at Kelly Khumalo’s parental home in Vosloorus on Gauteng’s East Rand.
Gwabini has also refuted claims that he hosted a gathering at a hostel in Vosloorus the day of the alleged hit.
On Wednesday, Gwabini told the court he refused to testify in court on behalf of the state as he was allegedly assaulted by the police and could not be drawn to lies.
Gwabini says, “It was on the first occasion when I went there, and then the statement was read to me, and then I was told that I would have to come and testify. I then said that I won’t be able to do that or I won’t go there. There’s also a brother of mine amongst those people and also, you guys assaulted me.”
