KZN govt yet to verify reports of a planned shutdown by truck drivers

The authorities in KwaZulu-Natal are yet to confirm reports of a shutdown that the All Truck Drivers’ Forum and Allied South Africa (ATDF-ASA) have organised.

All lanes have now reopened after heavy traffic congestion on the N3 toll route in the early hours of Thursday, where multiple trucks obstructed the road between Estcourt and the Bergville Toll Plaza.

The obstruction is allegedly linked to the planned national truck shutdown.

According to an alert on social media, the truck drivers are opposed to the implemented Administrative Adjudication of Road Traffic Offences (AARTO) Act as well as the employment of foreign nationals within the freight industry.
