Parliament extends Ad Hoc Committee deadline to 20 February 2026

The National Assembly has approved a second extension of the deadline for the Ad Hoc Committee to the 20th of February next year.
The Ad Hoc Committee was established in September, to look into concerns of national security.
This followed allegations of criminal infiltration, corruption and political interference in the justice system made by KwaZulu-Natal top cop Lt-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi in July.
The committee’s initial deadline was the end of October, which was extended to the end of November.
But due to the workload of the committee another extension was requested.
In the House this afternoon, the extension was approved during this exchange between deputy ANC chief whip, Doris Mpapane and National Assembly Speaker, Thoko Didizi.
“I move that the House extend the deadline by which the Ad Hoc must complete its task to the 20 of February 2026. Speaker: Thank you deputy chief whip, are there any objections? No objections agreed to.”
