MKP says Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla resignation voluntary

The uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MKP) says it did not force Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla to resign from the party structures and as Member of Parliament.

It claims the decision was taken voluntarily citing that Zuma-Sambudla wants to shift her focus on ensuring the safe return of the 19 South African men trapped in Ukraine where Russia is continuing with its four year-long invasion.

It is alleged the men were taken to Russia under the impression that they would be trained as bodyguards.

It’s alleged Zuma-Sambudla, who is former President Jacob Zuma’s daughter, is among those responsible for the recruitment.

MK Party Head of Presidency Magasela Mzobe says, “Comrade Dudu was never forced to resign. She volunteered to resigned because she wanted to focus in helping families return their loved ones, now it ends there, there is really nothing. She submitted resignation today because she could not submit her resignation without taking the leadership into confidence and getting permission to do that.

So, as far as we know their resignation got nothing to do with admission of guilt or organisation, finding her guilty is her as a discipline member of MK and the leader realising that is this question the country needs to resolve of returning those young people safely at home.”
